Medical Billing Specialist
$25–$30 per hour · Remote · Open to applicants in Florida, Tennessee, Washington and California
StarrUp Consulting provides payroll, staffing and recruiting services to businesses across the U.S. We're hiring a Remote Medical Billing Specialist to help healthcare practices get claims submitted correctly and paid on time.
What you'll do
- Enter charges and prepare and submit clean claims to insurance payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Post payments and adjustments accurately
- Review denials and rejections, correct errors and submit appeals
- Follow up with payers on unpaid or underpaid claims
- Answer patient billing questions and prepare statements with courtesy and care
- Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA at all times
What you bring
- 2 or more years of medical billing experience (or a medical billing certificate plus relevant experience)
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding and the CMS-1500 claim form
- Experience with practice management or EHR billing software
- Strong attention to detail and clear written and phone communication
- Ability to work independently from home with a reliable computer and internet connection
- A CPC, CPB or similar certification is a plus
